This event-centric game enhances a typical QR code scavenger hunt by adding
elements like moving targets and encouraging strategy and socialization.
While most QR interactions struggle with the clunkiness of having to download a reader and a disappointing lack of reward (all this work to open up a web page isn't that exciting), I attempted to come up with a fun idea that harnesses more of the platform's potential.
This was built for a tech & TV conference. In their branding, the client uses a bunch of icons including diamonds, horses, hearts, and clovers. Instead of plastering the limited space of the booth with multiple QR codes, passers-by are encouraged to take and wear a sticker proudly upon their person. Although the stickers look seemingly identical, each code is tied to a particular one of the four branding icons. Which of the four any given sticker represents is only revealed upon scan. The frequency of icons is varied with Diamond being the most rare. Playing off the event's Vegas location, each user who successfully makes friends with enough other conference-goers to find and scan each of the four icons wins a prize. I am hoping to encourage cooporation, generate curiosity, and create increase recognition of the booth. |
